Curiosity safely on the ground on Mars

Ending one of the most highly anticipated and daring landings in the history of Mars' exploration, the SUV-sized rover, Curiosity, landed safely on the ground inside Gale crater at 1:17a EDT, Monday. Using its on board chemistry lab, it will soon go to work to determine if Mars is, or ever was, capable of supporting microbial life. Space.com has more on the night's success.
